Director development program approved under FarmReady
As part of its commitment to offering professional director development programs throughout Western Australia’s regional hubs, the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) will bring its renowned Company Directors Course (CDC) to Albany in November this year.
The CDC has been approved under the FarmReady Reimbursements Grants Program which is administered by the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. This grant provides up to $1,500 per financial year to individual primary producers and Indigenous land managers to attend approved courses with additional grants of up to $500 available for associated reasonable travel costs.
AICD’s WA State Manager, Suzanne Ardagh MAICD, said the decision to hold the first regional CDC in Albany was in response to feedback from other events in the area. She noted that AICD also recognised the significant business community operating within Albany and its surrounding regions, and as such, there were many boards from a variety of industries – including timber, mining, agriculture and retail – that would benefit from the program.
Rob Edkins MAICD, Chief Executive Officer of South Coast Natural Management and Chairman of AICD’s Great Southern Regional Committee said: “As a director of any business or organisation you must be aware of your responsibilities and know how to be involved in what is going on without getting in the way. The current global financial situation (and recent court rulings with a major corporate), has reinforced the important role of the director and the need for due diligence.”
The CDC is a comprehensive program designed to provide directors with a full understanding of their duties and responsibilities and provides participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully govern their companies. For more information on the course visit the website.
The first regional CDC in Albany will be held at the South Coast NRM Boardroom from 4 – 6 November and 12 – 13 November this year. To book your place, please contact AICD WA on (08) 9320 1700.
